A form of software known as Ransomware locks your computer's screen or encrypts all of your data, including Docx, PDFs, and photos. The attacker will then demand payment in exchange for a decryption or unlock key.
When a victim installs third-party software that has malware embedded in it or falls victim to phishing assaults, this malware gets placed on their computer.
How can we protect ourselves from it?
1. You should refrain from installing software from unidentified sources, cracked software, or free versions of premium software and regularly update your computer.
2. Disconnect your computer from the internet if it becomes infected to prevent the attacker from accessing your PC.
3. Shut down your computer and take the hard drive containing your crucial information off of it.
4. Always make sure to take a backup of your crucial documents on an external pen drive.
5. Send an email alerting all users about a ransomware assault.
6. In order to thoroughly remove the infection from your PC, install a new operating system.
